🎓 Verify Your CAO Application – Statement of Application Record

📌 Deadline to Confirm: 1st July at 17:00
  • In May, CAO sends the Statement of Application Record (SOAR) e-mail to all applicants.
    ✅ It asks you to log in to your CAO account
    ✅ Review all details carefully
    ✅ Fix any errors or omissions
    ✅ Confirm your information is complete and correct
    ⚠️ Serious consequences may arise if your data is incorrect or unconfirmed!

    1. Log in to your CAO account.
    2. Review the following:
      • Personal Details (especially name, date/place of birth)
      • Qualifications & Assessments information (past and/or present examinations, exemptions, etc.)
      • Supporting Documents (if you have sent any evidence of qualifications to support your application – DARE/HEAR documents are not included in this section)
      • Course choices (order, codes, accuracy)
    3. Fix Errors Immediately:
      • Use your CAO account tools to edit your personal/examination information (e.g. Modify Details tab, Change Personal Details tab, etc.)
      • Email CAO via the Correspondence section for name/DOB changes or to add a qualification category
    4. Click the "Confirm" button in your account.

    ℹ️ Note: Even after confirming, you can still edit course choices until 1st July at 17:00.
    If the only item outstanding on your account is the supply to CAO of certified photocopies of grades in summer qualifications (see Summer Examination Results - CAO Handbook), then you should click "Confirm" and remember to send evidence of your grades to CAO as soon as they become available, and no later than 12 days before the relevant offer round.

      • If necessary, update via "Change Personal Details" (Name/DOB amendments accepted via e-mail only)
    • ✅ Examinations & Qualifications
      • Check for:
        • Leaving Certificate (1985–2025)
        • QQI FET/FETAC
        • GCE/GCSE
        • Mature / Other School-Leaving / Other Further Education / Higher Education
      • Ensure all examination sittings and examination/candidate numbers are correct.
      • Update via Qualifications and Assessments (if necessary) > Modify Details
    • ✅ Course Choices
      • Check accuracy and order.
      • Match codes with CAO Handbook.
      • Add/change up to 17:00 on 1st July if desired
      • See any 2025 Handbook updates here.
    • ✅ Supporting Documents
      • View under "View Supporting Documents" if uploaded before 31st March.
      • Documents received after 31st March are uploaded on a fortnightly basis.
      • HEAR/DARE documents not viewable online.
    • ✅ Exemptions
    • Check your LC exam number and year is correct on your CAO account.
    • If it's incorrect or missing:
      • Log into your CAO account
      • Go to Qualifications and Assessments
      • Click ‘Modify Details’, make changes, and click ‘Submit’
      • Deadline: Submit by end of May for updates to show in early June
    • Note: If you're doing the Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA), CAO does not need your candidate number.
    • Log in and check that:
      • Your exam number and year is correct
      • Subjects, levels, and results are all listed and correct
      • Multiple sittings are fully recorded
    • Use ‘Modify Details’ to fix any issues.
    • Submit changes by the end of May.
    • Note: 2020 & 2021 candidates: CAO still needs your exam number (even for calculated/accredited grades).
    • Check your results under Qualifications and Assessments.
    • Your exam number is your PPSN.
    • Use ‘Modify Details’ to update your PPSN if needed.
    • Changes must be made by the end of May.
    • Please carefully read the letter for all QQI applicants
    • Check that all 2006–2024 results are entered correctly in your CAO account.
    • If sitting Summer 2025 exams, make sure A/AS Levels are listed with correct centre and candidate number.
    • Use ‘Modify Details’ to update examination data.
    • Documents must show exam board logo, level, subject, and grade awarded.
    • Missing or red* results? Update details and supply documents to CAO. (*See FAQs below)
    • Please carefully read the letter for all GCE applicants.
    • If you've sent in documents, you can view them under ‘View Supporting Documents’ in your account.
    • If this button is missing, CAO did not receive your documentation by 31st March.
    • Documents received after 31st March are updated on a fortnightly basis.

  • Q: I can’t find my LC candidate number—what now?
    A: Contact your school or the State Examinations Commission immediately and update your CAO account.

    Q: What if I make a mistake after confirming?
    A: You can still update course choices and most sections up to the 1st July deadline.

    Q: I am sitting my examinations this summer, what do I do?
    A: Supply certified photocopies of grades in summer qualifications to CAO no later than 12 days before the relevant offer round (see Summer Examination Results - CAO Handbook). If this is the only item outstanding, then you should click 'confirm' and remember to send evidence of your grades to CAO as soon as they become available.

    Q: I forgot to tick a qualifications category, what should I do?
    A: Please e-mail CAO via the Correspondence section of your CAO account to request that this category be added to your application. Once the category has been added to your account, please ensure you log in to complete the relevant sections.

    Q: Some of my GCE/GCSE results are appearing in red, what does this mean?
    A: Results appear in red in cases where adequate supporting documentation was not supplied, or in cases where the subject presented is not considered as a GCE/GCSE, for example, FSMQ, Cambridge Certificate, etc. These types of qualifications should be recorded under Other School Leaving Examinations. Supporting documents for results appearing in red must be produced by the exam board, i.e. they must show the exam board logo.

    • Don’t delay! Check your details as soon as you receive the SOAR e-mail.
    • After you have confirmed your account information, log back in to your CAO account to double check that your confirmed details are present and correct.
    • Check regularly for any further Correspondence from CAO.
